If I pick up a double major in college in related areas, and then become a teacher, will I get paid more for teaching both of those subjects at the high school compared to just teaching one? Thanks.

  1. No, but you will be more marketable.

  2. no.

Think about how school works - you are responsible for teaching a full days worth. Say a school has 6 periods - most often teacher will teach 5 out of 6 in one subject area. Some teachers teach multiple subjects within their subject area - chemistry as well as biology and perhaps health. And then there are teachers like me who specialize in two areas - I teach math and science - but since the kids school day is fixed, i teach only 3 of each.

No I do not get paid more. there *might* be some call for a teacher with those skills - so you might have an easier time finding a job. On the flip side - many schools are looking for purists.
