Question about bee's?

I heard that if the queen dies and another on does not take her place; the drowns out side the hive will die within 48 hours.

Is this true and why?

  1. Not true.  Depending on the specie of bee there are alternatives.  Some bee species queen will have sisters, if something happens to her one of the sisters will become the new queen.  In other species their are eggs or larvae being tended to that would become a queen.  The only time any bees might die is if there is competition for the vacated queen spot.


  2. No. If the queen dies the worker bees just make a new one. The only time drones are in the hive is when the queen needs to mate, other than that it's all female worker bees and one queen.

  3. no not true another bee takes its place most of the times.
