Question about being and Airline Pilot?

So, i think i want to become an Airline Pilot and i have a question. I know that they work at any time of the day, but do pilots get vacation time? and they get free airfair, right?

i know they probably sound like stupid questions, but i'v been doing research and i can't find answers to them!

Well airline pilots work 70-75 hours per month, but they are out of home much more than that. And everywhere you go is a constant vacation.

I am currently enrolled at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, as an Aviation Flight Operations major.  Pilots do in fact work strange schedules, however there is such thing as duty day.  This means that you are required to have a certain ammount of rest after a certain ammount of "work time."  

Being employed by an airline is no different than being employed by McDonalds.  You still get vacation time, despite the fact that you go to vacation spots all the time.  

I would assume that like with any other company, you probably get some kind of "discount" for being employed by them.  Whether it's free airfare, or just severely discounted, there is some kind of benefit.

Yup you do get vacation time. Indeed pilot's have off 10-12 days a month off (correct me if im wrong) but they they can be called in to come fly if their not on vacation. While on Vacation most airline's pay them and they can't get called in to fly. And yes a pilot and immediate family can fly for free.

First of all those are not stupid questions, its very good from you to ask if you can't find something. Now im going to be very straight:

1) Yes they get vacation time. How long depends on the airline you work for, and the staff currently employed at the specific airline. But an average vacation time per year could be a 2 week vacation.

2) You don't get 100% FREE airfair at least for the first few years at an airline. But you only need to pay a very little fraction from a normal flight. It becomes more expensive when it is an International flight since you need to pay for the taxes. We could say that a flight from Miami To Boston will cost you 10$ on couch 20$ on first class.
