  1. okies, pilots normally retire at reh normal age , which is 65 in europe, but the older you get, the more frequently you have to get a compulsary medical exam, and when you retire, the benefits vary greatly from airline to airline, but the pension is normally very good!

  2. Dont do it. Unless you like working every holiday and plan on never having kidds and being furloughed 2 or 3 times. Also, kiss having weekends off goodbye. Terrible industry right now. Starting pay is about 18K. Just telling the facts.

  3. Pilots in the US must retire from airline service by 65, until very recently it was 60.

Benefits all depend on the company you fly for, and the next contract. Don't expect a pension or job security.  DO expect to make very little money initially and possibly throughout your career. The days of six-figure salaries for flying a plane are numbered.

You will be away from home quite a bit. I work for a small airline and starting today, I will be gone for 5 days in a row.  I have 13 days off this month, but not all in a row.  13 days off sounds great, except that you aren't home every night, so you must do everything, even the small things, on your days off.

Flying is great, but it also becomes a job like everything else. I'm not trying to discourage you, just look at all the facts.  If big money and being home are important to you, look elsewhere, before you spend big money to learn to fly.
