if i dont got in labor on my own before sunday, regardless my induced day is sunday between 7-8am. i really dont want to get induced but so far doesnt seem like the baby wants to come on its own. :( last night i was having aloooooot of pains in my belly. i had to get up and walk around the apartment.. even tried drinking some warm milk. not sure how long it actually lasted. even went back to the bed and just sat there. eventually it went away and i got some sleep. i had s*x to late last night hoping it would help move things along, especially since my doctor was stretching my cervix.

has anyone been induced? how does it feel? what do you experience? im afraid of inducing because i heard it hurts more than going on your own. id like some heads up.. what am i instore for..

  1. I think i was about 2-3 cms dialated when I was induced, since my baby was getting so big... I was 5 days passed my due date & when he was born he was 8lbs 7 oz. The drs. usually wont induce you unless they feel its necessary.. which I think its definately necessary about your due date time) He actually got stuck from being so big, but they had a plunger thing that pulled him out.... his head was cone shaped for about a week or less..

Inducing was not bad at all, yes the contraction hurt at first they make you feel them for a little while, then you get a choice of epideral, & I wanted it & didnt feel a thing... it went really smoothly. You can't eat for a long time besides clear stuff so just eat well the day before.  I got at teh hospital at 5 am and tehy didnt induce me till later and I had him at 5PM Im sorry I cant rememebr the time they induced me I keep wanting to say at 10 am... but Good Luck

  2. I didn't want to be induced either, but I had high blood pressure which is very dangerous. If you're not having any complications, you need to ask your doctor WHY he's inducing you. If you do have any complications, it really is better for you and the baby. I was so nervous, I was crying. I wasn't ready. I can hardly remember everything, because I was really drugged up. I had an epidural which wasn't working. I do recall me laying in the hospital bed, and him saying that he was going to stick something up there to pop the sack. Lol that sounds sick, but he said it better...remember I was a little out of it. Within an hour or two, my contractions were getting painful. When he induced me, it just felt like I peed myself is all. Nothing painful. Talk to your doctor about this stuff so it can calm your mind. It's really not that bad. It just makes the due date a lot closer. Congrats and good luck!

  3. I was induced for my first and second babies. If you are planning on having an epidural it really doesnt matter. All they do is give you an IV and put the medicine in that makes contractions start. If it gets painful you can ask for epidural. If you don't want pain medication then it will be more painful as the pitocin makes contractions come faster and closer together.  If you are dilated to at least 3cm already then they might just break your water and let contractions come on their own.

  4. I was induced with my second child. It really wasn't any different than the first, if anything it was nice knowing when I was going to have the baby.

  5. ok so yeah i was two days over my due date and i had s*x with my b/f b/c i hadnt even started to dialate well that next morning...well two hours later i woke up and i was leaking fluid so when i went to the hospital they told me i had only dialated 1cm but they enduced me b/c the leaking amniotic fluid b/c i couldve gotten an infection...well what they did they had a tablet that they split into 4 pieces and they inserted a piece into you know well then it induces a perfectly natural labor...but b/c i was only dialated to 1cm when they did it...it took almost 24 hrs before i had my son...

  6. i was induced with my first and it was ok. i had a long 22 hour labour but they do say induced labours are longer. i was 6 days overdue with my daughter, it took a long time to progress and was hard work but well worth it.

  7. I was induced a few months ago. I wasn't dilated, so they put a pill in my v****a to help me dilate. Tehy put another one in after 4 hours. Then my water broke and I started having contraction, which were irregular. They then gave me a pitocin drip. I didn't notice the contractions get any stronger. They kept increasing my dose, and honestly, I couldn't tell. I was having contractions very often, but they weren't very strong or too painful. I never got past 4 cms. After 12 hours, I ended up having a c-section. I can tell you that the contractions weren't as bad as I thought they'd be and I was induced. My cousin was induced, too, and she said the labor was a "piece of cake". Everyone has different stories. Best of luck!!!

  8. I was induced at 40 weeks and 2 days on April 28th.

When you get to the hospital they have to admit you. You have to fill out all the necessary paper work. Then they will give you your room and start an IV, begin monitoring the baby's heart rate, and all that stuff. They will most likely give you drugs to start the contractions and once you are moving along, either your water will break on its own or they will do it for you. (They broke mine after seven hours of labor when I was 7cm dilated). Your doctor may give you Pitocin through your IV to start contractions or insert a suppository with a gel on it that will dilate your cervix. My doctor did the suppository and with in 3 hours my contractions started, but she warned me that it could take as long as 12 hours. My induction was smooth after 3-4 hours of contractions I got an Epidural (didn't even feel it) and it was smooth sailing form there. NO worries! And when its all over and you get to hold your let angel, you"ll tell yourself it was all worth it a hundred times over.

  9. Why is your dr. inducing you? If there is no emergency for it, I would refuse it. You DO have the right to do that.

  10. Is there some reason your doctor is keen to induce you, as opposed to just letting you go past your due date?  A "due date" is jsut a guideline--a full term baby can arrive two weeks before or after that date.

Honestly, it is better to let things progress on their own if possible.  Obviously if your doctor has concerns and feels that you need to be induced, that's another story.  But you can always ask about just letting nature take its course and go into labor on your own.
