  1. Varys on different people

  2. The common comparison is about 4:1,(running mileage x4 = bike mileage) both do a great job on your aerobic system but running and cycling work different muscle groups.

  3. ride bike,run suck.

  4. It depends on your weight, and your running/cycling speed.

Cycling at 6 miles per hour (pretty slow!) will burn about 240 calories per hour for someone who weighs 150 pounds. The calorie amount you burn would increase the more you weigh.

Here are some other figures for a 150 pound person:

Cycling, 12 miles per hour = 410 calories per hour

Running, 5.5 miles per hour = 660 calories per hour

Running, 10 miles per hour = 1,280 calories per hour.

It's a lot easier to bike than it is to run, however! I keep a pace of about 15 miles per hour on my bike for about 1.5 hours with one short water break.
