Question about black pepper?

My neighbour was worried because someone told him black pepper increases blood pressure, is there any truth to this? Are there any health risks to black pepper?

  1. Black pepper is an ingredient of several spice mixes recommended as salt substitutes for people wanting to avoid high blood pressure.

    One site says:

    "Fennel, oregano, black pepper, basil, and tarragon all contain several blood-pressure-lowering compounds."

    Black pepper can increase stomach acid production, improve circulation, and help burn off fat.

    On the bad side, It can irritate ulcers and a few people find it too hot even in tiny amounts.

  3. No black pepper does not increase blood pressure....but hot chili peppers do.
