Doesn't this seem excessive regardless of what he did? What would you do about this?

  1. Not sure what boarding school would do this...but as for the answer of never sending a child to boarding school. Many times children choose to go. That is what my sister did. And most of my friends. Even early on.

As for the punishment yes probably..

  2. uh, why boarding school for one and i would be livid...sounds like you need to change schools...but again, why boarding school???

  3. 1) I would not put my child in boarding school. I love my kids and want to raise them myself

    2) 24hrs in a corner is abuse and neglect. I would contact the police and pull my kid out, and I am not someone that ever thinks about suing but that would get me contacting a lawyer in seconds

  4. It does seem excessive but every boarding school I hear about has excessive punishments instead of proper discipline that is why I just don't get why so many parents think they are so great.  Of course most boarding schools are usually with children of parents who work to much to spend time with them or something and just would rather send them away than to actually be a part of their education.

  5. How old is child?

Why is s/he in boarding school?

    What did s/he do?

It would be interesting to know these things, but yes, it seems a bit excessive.

  6. doesn't matter what he did, unless he physically hurt somebody. that is excessive

  7. Sounds more like abuse to me, and I'm not sure that would even be legal.  You definitely need to look for a new school and now!  Pull your kid out of that one until you find a new one.

  8. I'm not sure what the point of that would be. Any time you make a child sit in the corner for bad behavior, whether 2 minutes or 24 hours, is just shaming them. You're basically telling them that they aren't worthy enough to be around "good people". Smacking a child in the face would be less shameful than that (not that I'm recommending anyone smack their child in the face).

  9. 24 hours in a corner is child abuse with or without meals and toilet breaks. Or do you mean 24 hours of siting in a corner over a period of 3 or four days?  That's fine, but without sleep and leaving them there for a extended period is child abuse. Report it to the authorities and get your kid out of there.

  10. Since I would never send my kid to a boarding school, the argument is moot.  However, I presume the kid gets time off for sleep and toilet breaks.  It's just an extended time-out and depending on the age, may actually be appropriate.  Would have been a useless punishment for me, however. I would use it as an opportunity to daydream without interruption (and did, which is why my Mom never sent me to my room).

  11. It is excessive, I would take the kid out of boarding school for that if it keeps up after asking them to stop it.

  12. they say you should punish them enough to realize what you did wrong and learning from the mistakes that were made, but if a child sits in solitary to long, it might make them go crazy and begin to think of other things they can do to the people that put them in this situation in the first place..i think it is way to long, an adult on the other hand i could agree with it

  13. boarding school? those still exist?? Gosh....Why do parents send their child away for the school year? Wouldn't they want to see their children on a daily basis? Boggles my mind....

  14. 24 hours in a corner? Uh yeah thats excessive. If it was me, I would yank my kid out of there in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even have to ask anyone. I would just do it. If he did something so bad, then I should have been called to deal with it.

If it was me, the people in that school would find me waiting outside for them also for doing that to my kid.

  15. You shouldnt have to even think about this. Its very cruel.
