I have been researching breast pumps and came up with Medela being the best out there....but they are so expensive. Has anyone had good luck with a less expensive brand? I am 28 weeks pregnant with #3 and my first 2 babies I could only get to nurse for 2-3 months and I want him to be able to have breast milk longer.

  1. The hospital should give you the necessary attachments for a breast pump and give a referal to rent one. I want to say it was like $20/month and they are hospital grade pumps. They work so much better than the medela ones (my opinion anyway). I rented one with my first for only like a month (he would fall asleep as soon as I nursed so we got worried since he was so small and switched him to formula). With my second I rented one for seven months, I forgot to get the attachments at the hospital so I had to buy new attachments at the store. The ones I rented were the exact same ones the hospital had.

  2. my sister is using that kind and she says it works really good!

answer my question please since you have 3 kids it would really help !

  3. medela manual. Best ever. Forget the electric- they're so expensive and you really won't have the time to have both hands busy with an electric at least that has been my experience.

  4. no we had a medela but i did buy it on ebay so try there as were a lot cheaper

  5. I have a medela and I wouldnt reccomend anything else.

I found mine on craigslist.com for only about 50$

All you have to do is go buy a few replacement parts (the pieces that touched someone elses breast and milk)

You can buy those at Baby depot or even Target.

It is absolutely worth it to get a medela.

But I agree you shouldnt have to pay almost 300 dollars.

  6. well, i would really go with the medela one... i have the first years breast pump, and well, i havent used it, but i know from friends that its just money sent to the garbage... I really regret buying that one (and not beeing able to return it!).

Most of my friends got a manual pump, and then, they got the electric one....

so, save money and be ready to spend the $150 that medela's pump cost... its REALLY worth it!

  7. Yeah i have the same problem. i want to pump along with breastfeeding so my husband can experience it but the pumps are so expensive. my mom said they're all the same and the best way to get away cheapest is by buying a single manual pump. walmart has really good ones for under 40$. hope this helps, congrats on your pregnancy we're about 3 weeks apart :)

you can also buy a used one but the part that actually touches your breast (don't know alot about pumps i've never actually seen one) i read somewhere that that part should be replaced.
