I stopped breastfeeding my baby a few days ago, but under pressure, i decide that perhaps i can breastfeed at least twice or three times a day. my breast is quite soft and not longer full as it used to be, but milk is still coming out...do you think baby will be able to get enough milk. i mean, can i still get the same flow of milk or is too late????

  1. your body will make more , breastmilk is made on demand the more the baby drinks the more your body makes... if you are planing on breastfeeding you better start before the milk stops coming out.

  2. Breastfeeding is a supply and demand proposition. You cut off the demand, so supply reduced. I think if you increase demand, you'll increase supply. But don't wait--and don't get discouraged! It should come back.  You may have to supplement until you get back to normal.

The below link said that it takes a month for milk production to stop completely. That's good news for you!

  3. if you still have some milk coming out then you can re-establish the flow.  It's all about supply and demand anyway so get baby back on there and your supply should pick up again - but don't leave it too much longer or you will dry up.

  4. Breast milk is supply and demand. You will get enough if you let your baby nurse for however long he wants to.

  5. It's not too late.  You may need to supplement with formula to prevent dehydration.  Talk to a lactation consultant or contact the La Leche League.
