Question about cancelling a non-refundable flight?

If you cancel it can you like use the money for another flight? And if you can, can you schedule another flight for before the original flight date?

  1. Yes, you can use the credit for another flight. But they will charge you a change fee. Most airlines are now up to 150$ per ticket. So if your ticket was 400$, you would have 250$ credit to use towards another flight.

    And yes, you can change the dates to leave anytime you want. Even before your original flight.


  2. Yes you can...you will pay a change fee plus the difference between what you paid and the cost of the new flight.

  3. Most of the airlines will require you to cancel your flight PRIOR to your departure date, or it will void the ticket. You then have 1 year from the date of purchase ( must have completed travel by then )

    to apply that ticket to any other ticket on that airline - does not have to be the same place. You will be charged a change fee when you rebook and will pay any difference in the fare. If the fare is lower, some airlines - not all will deduct the change fee from the amount due if the new ticket is lower.
