Question:

Question about car insurance in Texas?

My husband and I have used the same auto insurance company for over 3 years now with no tickets. He is 40 and I am 38. I got a letter a few weeks ago saying that we qualified for a 15% deduction because of our safe driving record. Today, I got my bill in the mail and they increased my payments by $9 and said it was because my husband just turned 40 and they have to increase when you get older. I had no idea that 40 was old and we have had no tickets or accidents in a very long time. Does that sound right?

  1. For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a good quote is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you compare similar policies with the same limits, car make, zip code, etc so that all options are an accurate comparison.

What I usually recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and can give several prices on car insurance polices.

  2. Usually your premiums are lowered with age.

That is odd. I would call your agent and question them.

Then I would consider a different company who wasn't going to charge me more for getting older. I mean, its not like they can drop your prices because you get younger, right?!?
