Question:

Question about car tag...?

When you get a new car the paper tag is good for thirty days. I know that when I regular tag expires you generally have a thirty day grace period so I was wondering if you still had that grace period with a new tag? I live in Oklahoma if that makes a difference.

  1. Your tag should expire on your birth day. The sticker should be color coded to the year in which it expires and a month/year on it. The only time for grace is when it is still in the month of expiring. After that it is expired and you will be given a ticket. To back up a second... if your b-day is the 1st you will have extra time rather your b-day on the 25th to go get it renewed. The police will not pull you over to see if it is you b-day yet. However, if you get pulled over for speeding or a busted tail light or just anything... the officer may issue you either a warning or ticket pending on his/her mood at the time.

Be safe and renew the tag.

  2. I think you are mistaken about a grace period. If you get stopped, you will be ticketed. Tags last 12 months, not 13. By the time your temporary tags expire (30 days), you should have the paperwork to get regular tags. Temp tag expiration dates stick out like a sore thumb.
