Question about carpeting a house?

can anyone give a ballpark estimate how much it would cost to redo a 1100 sq ft house with the cheapest tile or carpet.

  1. Carpet can be as low as $.49sf so multiply that by the sf feet of the rooms, not the house (1100sf includes bathroom, kitchen, etc). Another expensive way to go is buying remnants. These are usually greatly discounted because of over stocking, or discontinuance.These usually sell for hundreds of dollars, before discounting because of the quality and grade of the material.


  2. I had my home carpeted not to long ago.  I paid 2.00 per sq. ft. That was for carpet, pad and labor.  I removed the old carpet and discarded myself.  Would have been 2.30 per sq. ft. otherwise.  You may also want to leave the tack strips in place.  Not sure if you would get hit for additional fee if they needed to be installed.  Tile would be much more expensive.
