  1. Anyone that said guns are good is wrong. Guns are bad, bad, bad, bad, bad! Getting pierced with a gun is just asking for a bunch of problems later down the road. Piercing guns are usually made with plastic and cannot be sterilized properly. The gun forces a the stud through the skin, causing it to literally rip in order to make room for the jewelry. Use of the needle for piercings is less painful, less traumatic, and much safer for you. A professional piercer uses a sharp hollow needle, which makes room for the jewelry rather than just push the skin aside. Don't be afraid of the words "sharp hollow needle", trust me it doesn't hurt at all, and I can promise you it will hurt a lot less than having a stud shoved through your ear. Another thing, mall piercers are trained fairly quickly as opposed to a professional who have been practicing for years. So go to a professional for any type of piercing.

As far as pain goes, it will probably hurt to sleep on it the first few weeks.  I think the pain you have after hurts somewhat more than actually getting it pierced. I have a high pain tolerance though. I honestly don't think it will be that bad.

  2. Gun is good you will never feel the pain, but make it sure that you are doing the whole procedure in most sterile way.

    Wounds are prone to infections.

And try to ask your MD about it.

  3. i got mine done a year ago.

and it didn't hurt me one bit.

it felt like a little pinch and it was over.

the lady doing it actually said "you can go now..."

and you should get it with a needle because with guns and cartilages they scare and guns are only meant for lobes and are given to people without much experience.

  4. It is recommended that you use needles. I had one that never healed after many years although I have several more piercings that healed fine.  So it was painful for a long time. I finally just had to take it out.  It really doesn't bother some people though so I say try it, it can always be removed.

  5. i got mine done with a gun a few years back and i think its better than a needle. it felt almost the same as a lobe piercing except it took a little longer to heal.

  6. Either one would be fine but dont go to a place in the mall where you cant get proper care instructions etc. get it done by a professional-other than that make sure you clean it well and use neosporin to help-good luck (:

  7. I've had mine pieced twice.  It hurts when you first get it done, then that goes away, and it starts throbbing.  You won't be able to sleep on it for a while, so get it on the ear you don't sleep on.  I guess it all depends on your level of pain tolerance, and no one can really tell you how you're going to react to a needle piercing your ear.  I got mine done with a gun, and it was faster than getting it done with a needle.  As long as it's sterilized first, I don't think it matters.

  8. All of my friends have gotten there cartalige peirced. I mean every single one of my friends! so i know a lot i hope this will help. clean it often!!!! and also like you said it doesnt hurt at the doctor, it  will not hurt!! it is just like your lobe peircing except the pinch is a little bit longer! there is nothing to worry about!

  9. Okay.

When I was 12, I got my cartilage pierced with a gun. Nothing bad happened to me or anything, but that was 10 years ago.

I highly recommend that you go somewhere (like any professional piercing place, not claire's or anything like that) that specializes in piercing. Any professional piercer will not pierce you with a gun, because they are not sanitary and cannot be sterilized properly. Also, gun's are more inaccurate while piercing, so they could hit a nerve, and you could look feeling in your ear, affect your hearing, or it could shatter (and look deformed forever.)

I got lucky getting mine pierced with a gun, but that was a long time ago, and if I had another chance, I never would have risked it. For your safety, I highly suggest you get it pierced with a needle. You will feel a little more pain because the earring they give you will be thicker, therefore going through more skin. But it will still only take a second, and it will be totally worth it.

    Good luck.

  10. basically:

    needle

you feel a prick when it goes through the skin

when going through actual cartilage it doesn't hurt

make sure you clean it after

a lot of people say you should get it done professionally, but i did mine myself and there has not been anything wrong. but, if you want to be certain, then go get it done by a certified piercer.

hope i was of some help .

  11. ya need to get it done professionally wiht a needle

it was poainful for me WHILE the needle went in, but afterwards if you take care of it well and dont sleep on it or anything its perfectly fine

tip: eat fuits and veggies a lot (vitamin c) to speed up the healing process too
