Question about cashing a check at Wells Fargo?

I was just wondering, I'm 15 and I wanted to cash in a check over there. What forms of identification will suffice? Will a Student ID Card last year as a freshmen work? On the check the first name is written as Jae, BUT on my social its Jai.....will they understand that in school and in public that my name is kept as "Jae" as a preferred nickname, of course not many know that haha. How strict will Wells Fargo "people" be when it comes to identification? Thanks in advance to all that reply! And please no spam.

  1. You're not going to be able to cash that check at any Wells Fargo branch because you're under age.  Most banks won't cash checks to ANYONE under the age of 18.  That's been a rule of thumb for years.

You can open a Teen Checking account but that's about all.  You'll need a parent with you to open the account AND they'll be a co-owner.

If you need the money asap, try a check cashing place, grocery or liquor store.  However due to your age, you may not be able to cash it without a parent or other adult.

  2. Would your parents be willing to deposit the check in their account and give you the money?

How much is the check for? Do you have any state ID?

Maybe call or go into a branch and see what the branch manager says. Maybe he/she will be willing to do it if your parent comes with you.
