  1. I work for a professional cleaning company and some of our clients prefer us to use a steam mop on their pergo.  I think it works well.  Water does contact the floor but it is in the form of steam and evaporates within seconds so I would not worry about it swelling.  It will also not leave any funky looking streaks that would happen if you were to mop it with vinegar.

  2. I haven't heard anything about whether or not it is safe to use a steam mop on pergo. I do know that vinegar is a safe cleaning solution for it. Mix about 1 cup vinegar and with 1 gallon of warm water vinegar. Avoid soap and detergent based cleaners.

  3. No steam...it can get in between the joints and cause it to swell! Make a cleaning solution of 1 gallon warm water and EITHER 1/3 cup of ammonia OR 1 cup of vinegar. Rinse and sqeeze your mop well before mopping.

  4. Don't use water on them at all even thought they are not really wood floors the steam is not good for them.  Best thing to use would be Bruce's Hardwood Cleaner.
