ok so i know that when you are pregnant you are not supposed to clean cat boxes..ok so I'm following that general rule..as i don't own a cat due to an allergy..but what about cleaning my guinea pigs cage or my rats cage..i have a female with 12 babies that are like 3 weeks old and they poo a lot...so i clean there cage a lot..and they are also in a tank so ya..i was just wondering if cleaning their cages would be harmful to me or my baby while i am pregnant

  1. im not sure if guinea pigs carry the same thing cats can carry, but a friend of mine whos a vet tech said to wear gloves and wash your hands good afterwards..and dont try to inhale any of it, just to be on the safe side..my husband now cleans the cat box, maybe you should see if someone else would do it for you, but def ask your doctor about it, because im really not sure if they carry the same thing!! goodluck!

  2. we have rabbits & guinea pigs so asked the midwife what to do about cleaning them and she said to wear gloves then wash my hands properly after and it should be ok
