Question:

Question about college transcript for Air Force?

I went to my community college to get my official transcript for the recruiter, when i found out that until i pay a debt to the school they are gonna hold my transcript.

I had read on the Air Force website about an option where they will give up to 10,000 to help pay a school debt. How and when would i get this? It said to ask for the option during enlisting to be included in the contract.

  1. That's a college loan repayment plan.

It only pays for College student loans you have taken out.

It doesn't actually pay, until you are out of Tech School.

If you owe the college debt, it will not pay for that.

But, you generally have 6 months after you enlist, to have your transcripts sent and evaluated.

After they verify your transcripts, you are promoted, with no back pay and the date of rank, the day promoted,

    Not after Basic training graduation.

You need to check with the recruiter to see if the 6 month period is still valid.

Then, after you are in, you can pay off your school, get the transcript sent.

And still get E-2 or E-3 early.

  2. My husband is a recruiter for the USAF and I'm pretty sure what you are referring to is the MGI Bill. This only applies once you have enlisted and have served at least 2 years of service. There might be other alternatives, but your recruiter will have to work with you to find them out. there might be a possibility for you to make arrangements with the school or agree on a payment plan so that you can get your transcripts. You'd be amazed what an official letter from the AF can do for you and/ or have your recruiter go and speak with the school officials to work out a deal.

  3. Sorry but I'm pretty sure that doesn't cover an existing debt. That's your responsibility.

  4. i'd ask your recruiter. I would think you should serve at least a couple years before you get that entitlement, but i don't make the rules.

  5. I don't think you can even enlist while you are still in debt with the school, however I'm not exactly sure on that. Anyways back to your main question, you cannot use that money to pay previous school debt, on previous college loans, and you still have to qualify for that which means you will have to give something up. I would suggest getting a credit card if you don't owe that much and using that to pay the school, get into the military and then pay the card off. Best of luck to you.
