I have a feeder with a huge boar pig coming in just about every night he usually shows up bout 11:30 and stays most of the night I really need to shoot him because of how much corn and soybean he eats and he runs off the deer but the full moon is a good while away and I dont want to shoot at a shadow in the dark I have been told about using a red lense on a spotlight that it will not spook them as bad but I don't know if this applies to hogs or just to coyotes

  1. You can do it without the red lens- just use a bright light and when he starts feeding, flip it on- he may run out for a few yards and stop, but most of the time they will continue feeding- you might think about using a rifle with a scope on it- the light can be taped to the scope - just make sure the beam of the light is ahead of the end of the scope- it's just like shooting in the daylight- also make sure the cross hairs are directly where the beam is shining.-It's so easy it should be illegal-in fact, I believe it is!-But a hog on you deer bait is not a good thing- you have to get rid of him one way or another. And a hog born in the wild and raised in the wild is as easy to spook as a deer. Good luck!

  2. If he is busy eating you should have time to get a good shot with out the red lens .

  3. It seems to apply to all animals.  I have not personally used a red light on hogs so I can't say for sure but the red light may simply not be visable to them.  At least it is not as bright as white light due to the lack of the other wave lengths.  I'd say that given the success of varmint hunters using red lights, it is certainly worth a try.

  4. Just get a good laser sight, attach it to your scope, sight it in.

Use it and take him out.

OR just buy a nightvision scope, with or without buying the laser sight.
