Question about comcast service?

Let me explain a little before I get to my question. I had comcast come and set up my digital cable, hd,dvr, all that stuff. Problem is, at the time we had just moved in and were planning on buying a new flat screen. Well the projects have yet to cease so we havent made it out to get a new one yet. I decided to just hook up our old tv for the time being. I explained to the technician that we were going to get a new tv so dont even hook it up, so he didnt. My problem is, I just have the tv and dvr hooked up right now, I have to use the tv remote to turn the tv on and the digital cable remote from comcast to turn the box on and change channels etc. I have tried switching the inputs, etc. Is there something Im missing, an easy way to be able to just use the comcast remote and hit "ALL ON" to turn the tv on and the use it for the volume too? Sorry for the scattered question(s), dont know how else to explain it. Thanks.

  1. The latest Comcast remote control has the ability to manage the power on your TV as well as the volume on your TV. There should be a manual that has all the television manufacturers listed with a code, and they explain how to setup the remote. I have not been able to get the remote to turn both on at the same time, but at least you can manage everything from one remote.

    Hope that helps.....

  2. "AW"  is correct.  You should have received instructions on how to program the remote to use in conjunction with your TV.  Here is the link to Comcast's pdf file

    http://www.comcast.com/remotes/universal...

From here you should be able to find your TV and follow the instructions.  If your TV isn't on the list or the codes don't work call Comcast.  They have additional codes that may not be in the manual.  I had to call them to get mine.  Hope this helps.

  3. yes there is a way.  Our Comcast Digital remote turns on everything including surround sound.  Unfortunately, my boyfriend did the programming so I dont know how to do it.  Try calling their 888-comcast number and see if they can walk you through it over the phone.
