Question about community work??

well any tips on what i should do for community work? Does it actually help you get into collage like "easier"? should i do the orphanage? animal shelter? Nursing home? all?? anymore places?

What are you good at?  What kinds of things would you naturally choose to do?  Any skill can be applied to help other people.  

I am good at writing and marketing, and work as an event planner.  So, I write press releases for charities to raise public awareness, and have planned events(for free) in the past to raise funds for good causes.  

Do you like to read?  Read to those who are sick.  Are you good with plants?  Help some elderly people with their landscaping (the city often has these contacts).  Are you good with animals?  Call the local animal shelter and see if they need help.

Do something you're interested in - and not only will you be helping other people(the most important), but you will also be honing your skills and building experience.

The more you get involved in volunteering, it does reflect on your character and will be a positive mark on your "score card" for the college of your choice. But, even more important, volunteering helps other and makes you feel good about yourself and what you've done. Check at your Public Library for a complete list of volunteering opportunities in your area.

Independent living - Although all of these are similar don't assume they only cater to elderly. Others are in these facilities temporarily while recovering from illness/accidents
