Question:

Question about conduction?

Is conduction when an electron at a voltage approaches an atom, electrostatically repels the outer shell electron of the atom, giving it voltage?

If so, how exactly does the electron ineract with the electrons in the atom? Surely the repulsion will be felt by all the electrons, can a single electron cause multiple electrons to fly out of the atom?

  1. Electrical conduction is the movement of electrically charged particles through a transmission medium (electrical conductor). The movement of charge constitutes an electric current. The charge transport may result as a response to an electric field, or as a result of a concentration gradient in carrier density, that is, by diffusion .
