Ok, I was playing a game of Connect 4 with my cousin and I finished the game by connecting 5 checkers in a row. He says it isn't a win because its 5 in a row, but I'm sure I won because I still connected 4. Who's right?

  1. yeah man, you win.

  2. as long as you have 4 in a row you win

  3. Of course you won. It doesn't matter if you connected 5, the point is that there's 4 within the 5 so you win.

  4. Obviously, you win.  You are totally right, if you connect four, you connect four that's that.  You can connect 20 if you want, but you still win.  All you have to do is get four in a row.  I guess your cousin really doesn't like to lose!!

  5. I loved to play connect 4 and played it all of the time in grade school.  To my knowledge, there is no rule stating that a player must have 4 and only 4.  Unless your opponent can find the rule in the instructions, or you agree to the rule BEFOREHAND (house rules), you should be declared the winner.  The reason?  Anything that is five in a row is also four, three, and two in a row as well.  At any rate, your opponent is making the claim that you must have 4 and only 4 in a row to win.  Since he is making the claim, HE and not you has the burden of proof.  Congratulations!

  6. ur right

  7. lo lthats it funny but hes just trying to trick you out of a win you deff. win when there is four no matter what. i miss that game.

  8. you are right it doesn't matter how many you connect as long as there's four. but what i don't understand is why didn't you call connect when you had 4 or did you not realize until you had five.

  9. From the official rules:

    "HOW TO WIN

If you're the first player to get four of your checkers in a row, you win the game!"

  10. lol you are because even before that you already had a connect four....... it dosnt even matter if u connect  5 because u would still win

  11. 4 comes before 5.  You won!!!

  12. As the one who challenges the rules, the burden of proof is on your cousin.  Unless/ until he can provide indisputable proof, victory is yours.  In any event, it's only a game.

  13. YOU WIN!!
