Question about crackle finish

I want to crackle a bedroom. I'm thinking of a red base crackled through a dark gray or a black crackled through a light gray. I'm not sure what i want to do yet. Also how exactly do you crackle finish. I was reading up on it and it seem simple but what does it take?

Go to your Home Improvement Center and talk with a salesperson in the Paint Department.

You have to buy a special paint for the crackling process to occur.
