  1. Of course they are ethnic groups, because they have his own culture (language, religion, magic beliefs and practices, behavior, traditional myths, etc.).

Ethnic differences are the only valid differences between human people.

  2. The races of the middle east;

Indo-Iranic, meaning the ancient Persians and modern Iranians.

Semitic peoples, which include the Arabs, ancient Hebrews/Jews, the Assyrians, the Amalekites, and all the various "ites" groups mentioned in the bible, in addition there are also the Babylonians who, believe it or not, are still around.  That is, the Semites who founded Babylon, but they are not Arab, nor Hebrew, nor Assyrian, they are Babylonian.  So, the semites and various subgroups.

Believe it or not east Asian peoples, namely, the people of Turkmekistan, the original Turks.  The Turks of Turkey are a blend of too many people that I wish to get into right now; to make a long story short, lets just say the Turks have a little bit of everybody from Europe, and the middle east.  Indeed the country is a crossroads so it makes sense.  Part of the reason the Turks are easily the least racist Muslims, has to do with the fact that they are so mixed; their attacks on Kurds, is rooted in animosity in that the Kurds have violently wanted to secede from Turkey.  Their animosity towardst he Arabs is rooted in that, historically, the Arabs used the men as soldiers, but the women as s*x slaves, in other words they exploited them.  Further animosity was caused in the fact that where Arabs take great pride in being pure, the Turks are a mixed people, so naturally the two groups can not possibly be on the best of terms.  However there is a difference between Turkish Turks, and the "real" Turks of Turkmekistan; the Turks are indeed, originally east Asian genetically, and the language in Turkey is actually more closely related to Korean, than any European or middle eastern language.

In addition believe it or not, a small band of Celts made its way to the middle east where they became known as the Galatians of the bible, in modern parlance I believe they are "Circassian."  The Circassian people of the middle east, genetically, are related to the people of Ireland, Scotland, and Britany, because they have Celtic ancestry.  Any "European" blood found in middle eastern people is likely Circassian, not European, because even though genetically they are Celts, the Circassians have been in the middle east as long as any Arabs.  Also god help you if you call a Circassian an Irishman; they are fiercely proud of their heritage.

Other groups include the various ones that splintered from the original peoples of ancient Persia.  The people from most of the "stan" countries, are in fact cousins to the people of Iran, as they descend from ancient Persian tribes that wandered into those areas.  Even though Egypt is actually a part of Africa, the country considers itself as part of the "middle east" because of its culture so, if you count Egypt, that also includes Hamitic peoples.

So, no, the middle east doesn't have "just Arabs."

  3. The first answerer is unbelievably off!

    Arab and Jew aren't races!

    Arab is an Ethnicity.

Jew is a person of the Jewish religion .

Turk is a person from turkey.

Egyptians are people of Egypt and they are also Arab.

  4. Jew, Kurd and Arab are races, while Turks and Egyptians are countries. So they are nationalities, there are Kurds living in Iraq and Turk on the border and this is a source of tensions between the countries. Many Arabs also happen to be Africans, although we usually think more of South and Central Africa when using this term it applies perfectly to Egyptians. I hope these help...

Arabs: Arab, Arabian (a member of a Semitic people originally from the Arabian peninsula and surrounding territories who speaks Arabic and who inhabits much of the Middle East and northern Africa.)

Jew: Jew, Hebrew, Israelite (a person belonging to the worldwide group claiming descent from Jacob (or converted to it) and connected by cultural or religious ties.

Kurd: Kurd (a member of a largely pastoral Islamic people who live in Kurdistan; the largest ethnic group without their own state)

Turk: Turk (a native or inhabitant of Turkey)

Egyptian: Egyptian (a native or inhabitant of Egypt)
