Question:

Question about dispute with Equifax?

I had 2 collections deleted from my Equifax credit report. Will this change my score at all? I don't know how they were deleted, but I disputed them and they sent me an email saying that they were deleted from the credit file and I had about 10 others disputed also and were changed to a zero balance.

  1. Yes, the deletions should increase your credit score.  This is due to the ratio of good credit vs bad credit, which you have just eliminated.

  2. They were deleted because they were not able to verify them but your other 10 are the problem you are going to have. If a account is real then you MUST not dispute it. Now that you have disputed and they re verified the account you will actually lower your scores. Here is a good blog for you to read.

  3. Depends. How old were they?  If they were fairly recent then yes.  If they were 4-5 years or older than probably not much.

They were deleted because you disputed them and when Equifax contacted the collection agency they did not respond, therefore the credit bureau has to delete it.
