Question about dmv fees for transferring a title?

I read on the CA dmv website you have 30 days to pay fees when you put a vehicle in your name. Aren't they going to ask me for the money when I do the paperwork there though?

What they are saying is that you have 30 days to transfer the title into your name. The transfer fee will be due at that time.

If the registration is coming due, you will be asked to pay for next years registration as well.
