I have had 2 kids and a tubal litigation. My kids are healthy and great and cute too. I have been considering finding out about donating my eggs. I don't need them...I would like to help someone who wants to be a mother. What could some pro's and con's be of donating??? What are your opinions on this???

  1. True, you could be paid handsomely for your eggs but there are a number of potential complications that could arise including ovarian failure which would basically put you in early menopause.  If it is something you feel strongly about, I recommend talking to your doctor about it.

  2. i live in connecticut and there is a hospital here that offers $8,000 per cycle for women to donate their eggs from ages 21-31...you have to be healthy and willing to go through all their tests and medications, etc.  the pros are that you are giving an incredible gift to someone who doesn't have the chance to create life on their own.  the downside is that women only have a certain amount of eggs in their life, unlike men who produce sperm daily, women are born with a set amount of eggs.  once you use them they are gone.  since it sounds like you are done having children after the tubal, you seem like a great candidate.  one other thing to consider is the possibility of children of yours biologically being out there in the world...if you can handle that issue, go for it.  i wish you the best of luck, i think it is a great thing to do if you are able.  i would call your local university/hospital and inquire at fetility programs to find out more information near you.  best of luck!

  3. the cons are less likely to happen but you could go through menopause earlier in life, because menopause is based on when your eggs run out and each session they remove as many as 40 eggs. Keep in mind that's 40 months of fertility. Donating eggs is a good way to allow women who cannot or do not have eggs due to cancer or something have babies. Also keep in mind that you one day may be contacted if the child ever finds out that they may have a mother out there somewhere they never met. Same cons as a sperm doner on that one. Since you've had a tubal litigation you may need to see if there is something they'll have to do special during the fertility process to make sure it doesn't affect your health, especially if you are still having s*x with a partner, because it causes a release of so many eggs and could cause problems if you are still copulating and if your tubes have grown back, which though rare can occasionally happen.

  4. I know you get paid alot of money for them. But before you can donate you have to take fertility injections. And I don't think you can be on any kind of birth control. Other than that I haven't heard anything. I don't think its something that they general population knows about or thinks about.

  5. From someone who has suffered through infertility, I think it would be a wonderful thing to do!    Definitely research to find out what is involved.  You would need to be on fertility medications to increase the number of eggs produced.  You would have to go through an egg retrieval which is a very minor surgery.  You would want to find out if there are any costs to you for those things, and if so if your insurance would cover any of it.

Also find out what thoughts your husband has in regards to it.

    Good luck making this decision!

  6. totally do it.. you have to be young and super smart though... they do extensive IQ testing, blood work, genetics, be prepared for long drs. appointments... totally worth it though.. they also want asian women...
