my neighbor raises cripple creek donkeys from the origional donkeys that the miners left behind after the gold rush.the ones that i have met in the wild have been friendly and curious but he has three on his ranch that just arent friendly at all.i know how to read a horse but i am clueless when it comes to donkeys,it is like they speak a different language than horses.i know they are very intelligent and know their boundries but what can i do to invite them to come closer so i can introduce myself to them.

  1. They aren't friendly as in how tho?

Are they just plain wild or just bonded to the owner and no one else?

My donk hates my son, seriously... and theres nothing we can do to salvage the relationship and theres nothing my son did to cause it.  The donk bonded to me and I am his owner.  It happens and I haven't found anyway to fix it when it goes like that.  He will eat treats from my son, but walks away as soon as he has it.  He will stand for hours and let me groom him etc.

At shows, my donk wants nothing to do with anyone other than my friend that rides him and me.  He was started shown at 1 yr old to get him out into public and desensitize him to ppl, they just bond so hard with their owners and some are very much one person donks.  You might be running into that.
