Question:

Question about drinking and driving in Texas?

I have question for the people of Texas or people who know anything about it. I don't feel like researching anyway...doing a story where a woman gets seriously drunk, drives, and ends up running into a telephone pole. She gets seriously hurt but doesn't hurt anyone else or nothing, just runs into a telephone pole. I am assuming she would be charged with something because she was drinking and driving but I'm not sure what. What would it be?

  1. Driving While Intoxicated.

  2. I asked my buddy, George W.....he said to let her Daddy take care of it.

The charge will depend on whether the police ask for a blood alcohol level test.  Also, whether the police think it would be a good idea to charge her, depending on how connected she is.  There is a possibility of almost anything.  A judge might accept a plea bargain involving going to rehab.  Losing the license for awhile is a pretty good bet, too.   First time?  Second time?  All different circumstances for the Judge to consider.

Why don't you have her crash as the result of someone giving her a date-rape drug.  The smart cop asks for that test as well as blood alcohol and when she is both too high and date-rape drugged, the complications will fill a chapter or two.

  3. She would be charged with DUI and have to pay to repair or replace the telephone pole.
