  1. It is late winter to spring.

You will get all types of weather, so prepare for the best and the worst.

There are a lot a lot of cheap clothinig places so you can buy what you need.

A large proportion of the cities population are 'scarfies' (an affectionate name to the students), so they will able to help you out with where to go to get stuff cheap, or within budget.

  2. We visited Dundedin in February (summer) and the weather was pretty cold, so I'd recommend you bring plenty of warm clothes for your stay.

  3. Temperatures in July could range from -3 to about +10. There will be warmer days but the wind chill will make them feel cold too, unless you are completely out of the wind. It is likely that there'll be a good dusting of snow on the hills at least once a week, but it doesn't usually hang 'round for long.

By November the range could be 6 to about 18 or 20 degrees, but also watch out for cold winds.

Don't bring too many clothes - remember that NZers don't "fetch'ntote" so you'll have to be prepared to carry all that you bring. (That is, no-one is going to help you carry what appears to be a superfluous supply of suitcases and bags.)

Clothes are available very cheaply at the many Op Shops.

They sell some garments while they are still fashionable if you are near the head of the queue you could be a winner, but all their other stock is in reasonable to excellent condition. When you leave you just donate them all back to the shop again.
