Question about dying hair?

My hair is black and curly but I straighten it all the time.

I want to go get my hair dyed with dark brown highlights that are somewhat noticable and very noticable in the sun

would it be good to go to a salon? or use a box of hair dye?

When you're getting highlights, it's always a good idea to go to a salon instead of doing it yourself because highlights can be very tricky. Good luck!

if your going to do highlights,

go with an auburn reddish brownish.

not regular brown

I think you should go to a salon. It might cost a little more, but it's better to have a professional do it.

If you have never done it before and dont know which brand or color to try, by all means go to a salon first. It will cost more money, of course, but they also usually do a much better job than you can do by yourself, with much less chances of and "oops" color in the end. If you like the results and want to continue to try it at home later, you can ask them to reccommend some products for you that will work.

Salon that specializes in african american hair i made a mistake and got my hair highlighted by people who have NEVER done african american hair before and my highlights diddnt come out as they should of

salon--> overpriced

if you dont like the color, you dont have to regret spending all that money at the salon...

It usually depends on how dark your hair is. If your hair is really black and thick then doing it at home is okay.  I also have dark hair but I have my sister do it for me that way she can see where she missed places and such.  I recommend not doing it yourself try to find someone who is good at doing things like this and as for color if you only want noticeble highlights in the sun then regular permanent dye is better rather than bleach.  I like using Loreal Feria because it is more gentler with my hair and doesnt damage it as much. If it is your first time and have thick hair then you might have to leave in the dye a little longer than usual and it also depends on how light you want it.  good luck!

tip-don't use highlight dye, just regular and dye your whole hair.

I think going from black to dark brown is safe to do at home just don't go to light and turn orange lol I think it would be fine to do at home just make sure it doesn't look like leppord high lights haha

don't box dye your hair especially if you want highlights it never looks good and usually always must be corrected by a professional.........go to a salon splurge on it!! It's worth it!
