Question:

Question about early ultrasound?

I had my first "vaginal ultrasound" at 7 weeks & 2 days. But this ultrasound was nothing like my other ultrasounds with my previous pregnancies. 1) it was my first time having a vaginal ultrasound and 2)it was very blurry.

I could see my uterus and the fetus with the flickering heartbeat on the monitor but it was so blurry that it was so hard to see. The OB printed it out the picture and I could barely see the fetus on the picture. I remember with my other pregnancy I had an ultrasound scan at 7 weeks and I can see the fetus perfectly clear. Is it only blurry because it was done through a vaginal ultrasound?

I really want to scan the picture but there's no point because you can barely see anything.

  1. A pelvic ultrasound normally is just used to either confirm a pregnancy or to make sure everything is fuctioning good in the pregnancy. Dont get upset by the fact that you did not get a clear picture. You will nojrmally have another ultrasound by 3 months and again normally at 5 months to determine the s*x of your child. I am quite sure your ultrasound was proberly routine. You will definetly have another opportunity to get a clear scan of your child in your womb around 3 months. There is a new ultrasound done now that is called a 3D ultrasound the pics on this is awesome. Please google this ultrasound and you will be amazed of what to look for at your later ultrasound! Good Luck and God Bless!!!

  2. Actually, a transvaginal ultrasound gets the best picture.

  3. It was probably and error on the technicians part.  they were probably just wanting to get the measurments and heart beat and didn't really care abou the clarity.  uaually they don't take the time to get good pictures on the first ultrasound.  they just want to hurry and get it done.  this is a picture of mine at 6w6d.  its not that clear either.  the circle is not the head by the way.  it is the yolk.

  4. i had one at 8 weeks vaginally a couple of weeks ago and it was blurry and i could hardly see what i was looking at,~

where as i had a normal scan at 8 weeks with my second daughter and could make the baby out its weird you would think having a vaginal ultrasound you would get a better pic as you are closer to the baby
