Question:

Question about ebay bidding?

by  |  earlier

I bid for something on ebay, not realizing that I could get it much cheaper elsewhere. I won and so I'm obligated to purchase it. My rating is 100% positive and I'd like it to stay that way. Any suggestions on how I can back out of buying the item without looking bad or angering the seller?

This is a serious, sincere question, so I ask that only helpful relevant responses be posted. Thank you.

  1. All you can do is ask the seller if they'd agree to letting you back out.  If not, buy it.  It's likely you didn't overpay by too much so just accept it and be more careful next time.

  2. Just email the seller that you changed your mind (I would say fluff it up). Usually they will go to the next highest bidder. If they do not accept then your ranking MAY go down b/c they need a review from you too. But usually they understand. Good luck.
