Question about electric bill in an apartment?

No one answered my question the first time and I need to know asap so I'm reposting it in this section. I'd really appreciate it if I could get some feedback. Thanks!

If I had an apartment that did not include electric in their utilities what would I generally be paying for it? I would probably have my laptop on a lot and the lights and of course the fridge. Those are the things I think I would use the most. Would I be paying a lot?

  1. it would depend greatly on your local utility rates.  call the company that provides electricity to the unit & asked for a history of on the account.  it won't be an exact match to you, but it will give you a good idea of that the cost would be.

  2. Ours is around $20. Now, if it is summer and we are using the AC it is three times the amount. We are in an old building that wasn't built for AC and the units they installed are not energy efficient.

  3. Nobody can really give you an estimate.  There are too many variables such as where you live, what appliances you have, what electric company serves your area, etc.

Your best bet is to contact the electric company and see if they can give you an average based on previous tenants of your apartment or based on others in the same complex.

  4. It depends on the size of the apt, as well as the rates of the electric company you'll be using.  If its a single room apt, and you'll be the only one there, am pretty sure your bill would be less than $80. Best thing is to shop around for rates.

    Good luck!

  5. You would be paying for everything that uses electricity.

That includes mainly lights and appliances (TV, radio, fridge, microwave, possibly the water heater).
