Hi, i rented a car from enterprise and all the charges came to about 80 dollars at the car rental. when i got home and checked my bank account i realized that they had placed a 170 dollar charge on my credit card. i guess they did it in case i damaged the car but they did it without letting me know. Is that legal? what course of action should i take when i return the car?

  1. The amount debited is suppose to be a deposit.  If you paid cash, like always it should take a few days to be credited back.

I used Enterprise all the time a long time ago, yet they seem to be lagging in the customer service department & that includes charges be taken care of.  Keep checking & keep on top of them.

To your question if it's legal without letting you know, yes, they have a clause written into their contract.

  2. Look at the fine prints.  They have all those thing in the fine prints.

As for legal, I don't believe they have laws against this.  In USA they can almost do any thing as long as they put it down in fine prints.

    Sorry to disappoint.

    Good Luck...

  3. This is normal.  You need do nothing.   When the car is returned, the hold will be released.
