I am newly single, wealthy and sexually active. I have read all kinds of stories about bitter women suing men after a relationship for contracting an STD whether it be true or not. Will an excess liability policy cover me from such lawsuits and claims? Will the insurance company handle any legal expense or settlements? Only professional answers please.

  1. Condoms cost less than insurance.

  2. NO.

See, an "excess" policy, means additional limits over your primary policy, and every homeowners policy excludes coverage for diseases - sexually transmitted, or otherwise.   So that excess coverage won't cover it, either, as it's excluded in the underlying policy.

If you want to practice high hazard behaviors, you take those risks.   You don't get any sympathy from me.

  3. Most homeowners liability & excess liability (liability after your homeowners or auto liability is exhausted) policies exclude communicable diseases.  They MAY provide defense, but unlikely.  I do not know if this type of coverage is available.  You may want to check with an independent agent to see if they can go to their surplus lines market & maybe find something with a company like Lloyds of London.
