I am a high school sophomore in Phoenix, AZ who is considering taking two summer courses from my community college. However, they charge tuition and my familiy simply cannot bear the expenses, which come to a total of $420 not including textbooks and other materials. So my question is this, is there a databse where I can find schoalrships for high school students wanting to challenege themselves by taking college courses?

My thanks and points to anyone who can provide me with a strong answer.

  1. You can try to go to

    http://www.all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships information.

    Good luck

  2. Hello how are you? What I suggest that you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

  3. All of the scholarships I know of are for kids who have already graduated.

I'm not sure what high school you attend, but some schools are served by a program called Upward Bound (TRiO).  They are a college prep program from low income kids that includes a summer college component between your Jr and Sr years.

This is the Upward Bound program that serves North High school in Phoenix AZ.  If they don't serve your high school, you might call them and see if there is an Upward Bound that does.  All services (and the college classes you take in the summer) are free.

  4. That's very ambitious. I would go to your high school career center they have lots of information about scholarships, go on the Internet to www.fafsa.com (federal site for scholarship money) or visit your community college financial aide office. Many students are looking for money for college, so I'm not sure how much money is out there. Good luck.
