Question about finding family online?

Today my family had a home coming. And I met a cousin I never met before and he isnt s****. like my other cousins hes actually pretty cool, well the family reunion thing didnt last long before people left he had to go. I know his Grandpas name and last name...but i dont know his last name..my cousin has the same first name as his gpa but they dont have the same last name since his mother married another man. So i was wondering if i could find records somewhere online that would state His grandpa, his mother and him so i can figure out his last name please help its really important!! And yes I KNOW i should have asked his last name while he was there but i didnt think of it at the time!

Contact the person who mailed the invitations to your family.

He or she should know how to get in touch with your cousins grandfather and, perhaps, your cousins mom.

I know what you mean, about s****. cousins; gotta' few myself!!

There are lots of websites. Some with records. Some with family trees. Some with mailing list and message boards.  Some have all 4.

I assume you are talking about family trees.

You most likely will not be able to find living people in them as that is considered an invasion of privacy which can lead to identity theft.

The only way any of your family would be in online family trees if if someone in the family has researched it and put it on line.

The trees are subscriber submitted and mostly not documented or poorly documented.  You can't take as absolute fact everything you see in them. There are errors.  Even when you see the same info repeatedly by many different subscribers that is no guarantee at all it is correct.  A lot of people copy without verifying.
