I have heard some folks say that catch and release fishing if done properly does not hurt the fish. I have heard some say that it does. I personnally believe the later. I just can't see how any creature can have a big giant hook pierce it's mouth.( I mean giant from the perspective of the fish), be deprived of the substance that it breathes for several minutes and then be ok. who is right. people who believe the fish are ok please tell me if my understanding is flawed and why. what are the statistics if any regarding post catch and release fish death.

  1. I think what people say about catch and release is that is doesn't harm the fish.  That doesn't mean there isn't pain involved, it just means that the fish is out of the water for a short time and that once put back in the water they go on to live a normal life.  (until the next person catches them and eats them lol)

  2. hi

it does hurt the fish they go through agony

have you steped on a thumb tack or a nail

    thats what it feels like.

they also have emotions such as fear, happiness, sadness

    so please don't fish

    and remember wildlife rules.

    thank you

  3. Most fish survive and heal. Some are hurt so badly that they die. This is when they get hooked in the gills or swallow the hook.

If you keep them and eat them 100% die. Take you pick, or follow the rules of the place that you fish.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

  4. It will heal.

  5. I don't know how anyone justifies it for any reason other than releasing fish that are too small to be taken.

Even when done correctly there is still a good chance the fish will die, because of all the energy it expended and must now make up.  If you were caught doing anything remotely like that to a land animal you would be up on poaching or some other kind of charges.
