Question about flying a foreign flag?

If I was to move to the United States from Britain, could I fly the British flag outside of my property instead of the U.S flag, or would that be considered illegal?

Proberbly less hassel if you fly both flags with the US flag higher as a mark of respect to your hosts

no it is not illegal,but a little show of respect would be nice,your reasons for moving to the U.S. have not been explained,but if you miss Great Britian,and feel the need to show your pride for your country,should you not be there,i have no real problem,after all we are in the land of the free,that is until the liberals in our country take over,as they have in Great Britian,we may not have a U.S. for long,liberals in the U.S. have made it fashionable to disrespect the U.S.!

Not illegal but in poor taste to plant a foreign flag on US soil. Certainly respectful to fly the British and US flag side by side at the same height to acknowledge both countries.

Legally, absolutely!  Conscientiously, you should at least fly both flags equally, perhaps one to the left and one to the right on either side of the door etc.  As an American I would do the same in Britain were I to reside there and felt the desire to fly a flag at all.

Calm down everyone going on about it being disrespectful. It's a very rare thing for British people to have flags outside their houses anyway.

Also, I live in Switzerland and know several houses where the family flies an American flag. Does that mean they should go back to America?

You'd probably be ok, but it seems a ridiculous thing to do.  If you're so keen on Britain why would you want to live in the US?  Can't bear flags outside homes - who are you trying to impress and why?

in My Big Fat Greek Wedding they had the Greek flag on the garage door ... No it's not a problem don't worry
