Question:

Question about flying my dog with me?

My dog is a 27 pound Blue Heeler. She is pretty small for her breed. I can carry her almost like a toy dog, except she's heavier. She's about 17" high. Here's a picture of her length and how small she is. :)

I believe that I would be able to take her on the plane with me if I got a tote bag big enough for her, correct? I've flown plenty of times across country, and judging by how small she is, I think she'd be able to fit under the seat with room left to move around. I need opinions as I am a first time dog flyer and I refuse to have her put down in cargo, but I would love to take her with me on trips. I've seen a few bags for 28 pound dogs online and at Wal Mart. Would this work, or is there a weight/height limit for dogs being taken on board? Any information from people who have experience with flying dogs would be great, thanks. :)

  1. lmao u bad grl sneaking ur dog on vaction wont they see it in the little scanner thing when you get on the plane

  2. Hey sweetie, it might have worked years ago. But with all the security checks and scans now, the dog will not be allowed in the plane. Only with special cargo, which is quite espensive. Sorry

  3. There is no way that you will be able to do that...

I have flown my dog and quite frankly you will have to put her in cargo.. It is expensive but don't worry about your lil dog at all..

If you go for the cargo option then the dog wil be very well looked after, she will be in a good sized box and have access to water, they also keep them in a warm area of the cargo hold...

  4. I think you had better check with the airline that you are going to take to check their rules for flying pet.  I had flown with my little Maltese in the cabin, but she was tiny, only 4 pounds, but for a 27 lb dog, I think she has to stay in cargo.

Meanwhile, if you fly international, especially to the less developed countries, you had better take the big airlines instead of the airlines run by those countries.  I have read a news someone flew his dogs in the cargo with the chinese airline, and his dogs were found dead upon arrival because the airline staffs didnt turn on the oxygen or ventilations in the cargo and his dogs all died of suffocation.  So be cautious when flying internatioanl !
