Question about food/food dishes (mouse)?

i know that people usually put a food dish in the cage with the mice, but i've heard that its good to just scatter food around the cage. is that true? thanx!

  1. no, it is better to get a food bowl you can get a big bowl that your little mouse can hop in and out. Here is a site for good big food bowls

  2. It can be if you put it under their substrate. This simulates the mouse having to search for its food. The mouse keeps its natural instincts while having easy upkeep.

    Scattering the food above the substrate doesn't do anything.

    Just to warn you, scattering the food below the substrate becomes a lot of work after a while.

    If you have a big enough bowl that the entire mouse can fit into, you should be fine and scattering the food wouldn't be necessary.

  3. No... That is if you get a big enough food dish. Get one that is big enough for your mouse to hop in and eat. But make sure it's not to tall that he will be able to get in and out!
