Question:

Question about free speech in canada?

I used to support a dictator[not a member of any political party, and I was born in the US and still live here today]. Does that affect me if I choose to apply for permanent residency in Canada in the future? I just want to know if that is a limit to free speech there.

  1. No, that will be irrelevant.

  2. Yes there are limits to free speech, when it gets into promoting hatred or violence.

But your question does ot give enough info to be able to answer you.  You could support a dictator all you want, but you would not be able to actively promote genocide, racism or whatever, if thats what you are wondering about.

  3. Freedom of Speech in Canada has been lost.

They have "Hate Speech" laws.   Who decides what "is" and "is not" hate speech is decided by someone other than the speaker.
