i am a new online seller. i have a question. let say i am selling an item for $20, shipping for $10. total $30. if something goes wrong, i would give the customer full refund. so if i give the customer money back, should the shipping cost also be included, which is 30 or just $20?

  1. If it is from something faulty on your end, then give them the entire $30, but if the cust just decides that they don't want it or don't like it once they have it in their hands, then give the just the product.

Keep in mind that customer service sucks, in general.  We have all had it.  Ex.  ever heard the sentence "we're experiencing higher than normal call volume..."   So, the good news, is that it is very easy to provide good service and stand out.  The better you do at it, the more people they will tell and then your business will grow!

    Good luck!

  2. I'd say if it was your fault then give back the shipping but if it was just a picky customer who changed their mind then make them pay shipping.

  3. Refund the entire price. They would still have had to fork out the postage cost, and therefore need the money back. This is above the normal standard for online sellers, but if you want business with the customer again, the postage will need to be refunded.
