Question:

Question about getting a tattoo in white ink?

I've decided I want a tattoo in white ink. It is simple--the word "faith" on the side of my foot. Some of the ones I have seen online look really good, and other just look like raised scars. How can I be sure mine is very white & you can tell what it is? I have fairly pale skin. I also heard that they fade and yellow with time. True?

  1. It depends on how long.  I have white in my work that's not new, and it's still white.  I'm also very pale.  However, the work is for highlighting only, pretty much never sees the sun and the skin doesn't get abraded much.  What you're planning on getting doesn't share those qualities.

I have heard that yellowing is a concern though; I just think it's due more to sun than anything else (not sure... check with an artist on that).

  2. I would definetly voice your concern to your artist before hand and they will be able to relieve your worries. The one thing I would worry about is the place your getting it.  Being that white is already a light color and then putting in on your foot, I would imagine it will fade pretty easily.  Feet tattoos have a tendency to fade easier just because they are constantly being abused.  I have the tops of both of my feet covered and I baby them as much as possible but in comparison to the rest of my tattoos, they do seem to have faded the most. Again, a good tattoo artist will be able to answer any questions you have and since they are the one doing the work, it is best to hear it from their mouth. Good Luck!

  3. When i got my second tattoo i asked the guy who did it if white would show up good as an outline or even completely white and he showed me a spot on his arm that was a tat done completely white it looked like his skin and it was barely visible i would talk to the person who is actually giving the tat to you and see what they recommend because they may have another idea that you like better and will weather better over time.
