Question:

Question about ghosts affecting appliances ?

Since ghosts can affect appliances, would they also affect a voice activated two-way radio? I stationed one at where I believe a ghost may be in my home. In another room is a receiver tuned to the same channel as the transmitter. If there is a ghost near the transmitter, would it's presence send a signal to the receiver? What will I hear if it does?

  1. "Since ghosts can affect appliances"

    Says who?

How will a ghost transmit its presence?  Without a voicebox it's incapable of saying anything.

This is a good question, but in order to provide an accurate answer we would first need to know a lot more about ghosts (i.e. whether they even exist) than we do now.

  2. I have done this before and got some good results.  In this case we put cellophane in front of the transmitter and then went into another room.  We asked that the entity try to move the cellophane.   Everytime we asked we could hear a sound like it was being crumpled.  We also asked for a specified number of knocks and got results.  After about a week of repeating our experiments daily we placed a video recorder  facing the transmitter.    Within 10 minutes it was thrown across the room and ruined, with no living person in that area of the home.    So...I have to say, it is possible to pick up sounds with an electronic device.

  3. The problem with two way radios (like the one's you might get from wal-mart) is that they are often cheaply made. And what I mean is that yeah they'll do what they were meant to but they might occassionally pick up someone's radio, someone talking on a phone and static from nature.

Some paranormal researchers do think that ghosts can talk through electronic devices, but that they do so in wave frequencies that humans cannot hear. So researchers to try to record ghost activity through electronic devices that then amplified through computers so that we can hear them. Its called an EVP (electronic voice phenomena).

Some also believe that ghosts draw off the energy of electric devices in order to manifest. So maybe a two way radio wouldn't be useless. It might be a fun experiment to try. But just make sure you use reason. Just because you hear a voice from an unknown source doesn't make it a ghost. Rule out other possibilities first.

  4. I have seen it happen with walkie talkies.  We have had visual contact with one that was on a bed in one room and the other was with us in the next room on a table.  The one of the table would ring like a telephone, but the other was never moved, touched nor would it ring.  You should be able to hear some evidence of it.

  5. "Since ghosts can affect appliances"

They can? Wow, now that is news to me. Please let your nearest media outlet know asap so we can all share in this news. You can even sell your true stories to the tabloids and make a mint - you go girl!

  6. "Since ghosts can affect appliances..."   who says?  That's a mighty big premise. Ghosts have not even been demonstrated to exist, scientifically speaking, so any opinions on ghosts affecting electric appliances is pure conjecture and/or faith based belief.

In the test you mentioned, how would you distinguish a "ghost" from RF interference, static or other transmissions on the same frequency?  This doesn't seem to be a good test.

So the answer is you won't hear anything you normally wouldn't hear when listening to an open frequency on a radio receiver. Also, those who believe in EVPs seem to claim that ghosts can't be heard audibily but only by playing back a recording. If that's the case, there is nothing to trigger the voice activation circuit in the transmitter.

  7. I'm not sure this would work because you could be picking up on anything outside. I think a better way would be to place a digital voice recorder where you think the activity is and see if you catch anything on it.

  8. Ok this is simple I am a paranormal investigator and yes you can get voices though your device what I would recommend is buying a digital voice recorder and leaving it in your home while you leave or while everyone is sleeping and you just might pick up talking or sounds that you know were not caused by yourself or someone else in the home you may also want to create some kind of white noise like running water or a station that doesnt come in on the radio or the television.

  9. Ghosts usualy turn things on or off or drain energy from appliances. But if niether of those things happen and the ghost whispers into it then you should hear some sort of unusual static.
