Question:

Question about going off of Depo Provera...?

I've decided to go off of Depo after being on it for almost 5 years (I'm not sure if I would recommend this drug or not...). Anyway, my periods before going on the depo were regular (every 28 days, never failed). My question is: when I finally do start getting my period again (yes, I know that this may take many months) will my periods be regular like they were before? Those of you who have been on Depo, what was your experience? Thanks in advance!

  1. Good to hear you are getting off of depo!  You should get a bone density check done too.

They may be like before, or they may be all screwed up because of depo.

I was on various birth controls since age 18, got on depo for four years, than got off of it and onto the pill Kariva for a little over two years.  Got my periods back in three months, however since I've been off of Kariva (since late May '08), I've only had one period.  Before I got on BC I had very irregular heavy periods.

It really varies.  I hope it goes back to the way it was before depo for you though!.
