Question:

Question about golf shafts?

I have a short game like a single digit handicapper, but off the tee I play like someone who can't break 100! I am thinking of buying a Nike 13 degree Sumo driver. I hear they're forgiving. I can get one with a senior shaft, and I'm wondering if that would work. I am 45 and slowing down a bit, but wonder if my swing speed is to fast for a senior shaft. (Unfortunately, I don't know my swing speed.) Any thoughts?

  2. How far you hit 7 iron? If you hit it 130 yards and/or shorter, I will say a regular or senior flex shaft may fit your speed.

  3. I couldn't see a reason you would want a 13 degree driver. That's my 3 wood's loft. I do think you should get a regular shaft. You could go to Edwin Watts or Di**s Sporting goods and they will put you on a swing monitor and they will fix you up.

  4. If you hit a 7 iron 150 a senior flex shaft is probably too soft and whippy for you.  But if you are that wild off the tee, I doubt if it is just an "equipment" problem.  You need practice to hone a repeatable consistent swing.

  5. It seems you have enought club head speed to use a regular shaft. Losing distance from the tee could be due to a flaw in your swing. I would look into this before I switch to a senior flex shaft.
